Gamers might feel underwhelmed this week as only three releases hit shelves with the majority, if it can even be called that, appearing on the Nintendo DS.
Samantha Swift and the Hidden Roses of Athena allows players to travel the globe in search of the Treasures of Athena in this hidden-object adventure game.
Players must rely on their keen observations and puzzle-solving ability to collect artifacts for The Museum of Secrets Lost, and to travel the world in search of the six roses of Athena: the Rose of Art, Justice, Industry, Conquest, Skill and Wisdom.
Already released for the PC, Samantha Swift and the Hidden Roses of Athena received a 90 from the website Just Adventure.
“While the game does follow a predictable formula, MumboJumbo put its own twists on the hidden picture format to make the game uniquely entertaining for casual gamers of all ages,” Just Adventure commented.
Samantha Swift and the Hidden Roses of Athena is set to be released on Tuesday, July 20, for the Nintendo DS.
For those looking for more puzzle-solving action, look no further than Hidden Objects: Mystery Stories.
Similar to Samantha Swift, Hidden Objects: Mystery Stories puts the player in the role of an investigator looking for clues and hidden objects to find the answer to the mystery in over 40 locations.
With more than 150 levels and over 10 search modes including Silhouettes, Spot the difference, Word Lists and Speed Mode, Hidden Objects: Mystery Stories is sure to keep the junior investigator busy when it hits shelves today.
Trackmania, available for both the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo Wii, offers gamers a faster pace than those listed above.
The game features three single player modes, race, platform and puzzle, as well as an in-depth track system with more than 300 unique blocks.
As players complete races, they’ll unlock “Coppers,” which can be used to unlock new tracks, paint schemes and new parts to use in making their own tracks.
Alongside the single player mode, players can link up and race against up to four opponents, eight players with hot-seat mode, or they can share the custom tracks they’ve created just as easily.
The racing action of TrackMania will be in stores tomorrow, June 20.
Must see of the week!
With a dull week for gamers this week, those with a capable PC are sure to be looking ahead to the big release of next week, Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty.
More than 12 years after Starcraft, the award-winning first game, was released, Starcraft II seeks to take over the real-time strategy crown once again.
Returning in the 26th century with characters both old and new to the franchise, Starcraft II is focused around the game’s three species: the Terrans, the Zerg and the Protoss, with the game placing special interest on the Terrans specifically.
Specs for the game can be found here thanks to GameSpy.
Gamestop is also offering free three-day shipping for the game, so for those interested that haven’t pre-ordered, now is the time.
Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty is expected to hit shelves on Tuesday, July 27, and more in-depth information and gameplay will be featured in next week’s article.
The full list of releases is listed below for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Nintendo Wii, PSP, Playstation 2 and Nintendo DS; although releases are still subject to change at any time. Check back next week for more promotional offers and game releases.
