Lebron James can now reclaim his name as “King James” as the Miami Heat are crowned champions with an impressive victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
As the games went on, things seemed to get easier for the Heat and looked more frustrating for OKC. Miami started game five hot and the game drifted away from the Thunder as the minutes ticked off the clock. James and his team played well and the Heat’s game plan was executed with precision.
Miami was aggressive, they were well balanced on scoring and everybody played their part in defending the Thunder. All of the Heat played a part in this championship victory.
As they did in games two, three and four, The Heat had a player with a break out performance, and that person was shooting guard Mike Miller. He came into this game not having done much in the series, but in this game he scored 23 points hit seven out of eight three’s and even grabbed five rebounds.
Miami earned the NBA Title and they will only continue to get better as they move on from this. With the pressure of James never winning a championship no longer a problem, fans will expect an even better James next year.
As for Kevin Durant, he will still be looked at as a good player, but his team just wasn’t capable of winning a championship yet. In the fourth quarter with four minutes left, Scotty Brooks, coach of the Thunder, pulled out Durant and Russell Westbrook for the remainder of the game. The Thunder realized they couldn’t come back from already being down by 28 points.
The Heat got better every game and this was the icing on the cake for them to end the series. The Heat were crowned in their own city, with their own fans. On top of winning, they won in a very dominate style and even got to sit out for the final two minutes.
Now with a title for the Miami Heat and a loss for the OKC Thunder, both teams will head into the offseason. Miami will bask in the glory while the Thunder have to start over with a whole new game plan. Kevin Durant still shined in game five with 32 points, but the little help he was receiving didn’t seem to do the job.
The odds were in Miami’s favor before the series started and the odds grew even greater for the Heat coming into game five. The expected happened and goodbyes were said to the 2012 NBA Finals.
