Christopher Nolan’s third installment of Batman portrays the story of a troubled hero rising from the darkness in hopes of bringing back justice to the city of Gotham.
Batman has become one of the most talked about superhero movies, displaying intense scenes of action, violence and more action. A terrorist with the goal of eliminating Gotham City by means of total destruction is played by Tom Hardy, who acted in the film directed by Christopher Nolan called Inception.
The Dark Knight Rises, stars Christian Bale as Batman in Gotham City, a town that for the past eight years has thought of Batman as a criminal. In the previous movie, The Dark Knight, Batman took the blame for the death of the District Attorney Harvey Dent. Dent was viewed as a symbol of justice in the eyes of Gotham.
After becoming a deranged criminal called “Two Face,” his actions led to his imminent death, leaving Batman to take the blame to maintain hope in Gotham City.
Bane is portrayed as a man seeking out his own version of justice and what he views to be right. Bane grew up in darkness and embraces it, making it exceedingly difficult for Batman to fight against him. Batman has to make quick decisions, as Bane’s wit is far superior than the average criminal. Bane is a mastermind terrorist and proves to be a true villain when all of Gotham is in a state of emergency and lock-down.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, stars as Officer Blake with a very similar past as Bruce Wayne (Bale.) The two experienced tragic losses of both parents when they were very young leaving them to relate to one another. Officer Blake is determined to fight for justice in a town with corrupt law enforcement officials and restoring faith in Batman in a time where Gotham needs him the most.
Levitt also starred in Inception under direction of Christopher Nolan, making his casting in “The Dark Knight Rises” fitting.
Another new character is brought to the cast, starring Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, or “Catwoman.” Catwoman is the alias she goes by throughout the film leaving fans bewildered by her character’s relationship with Batman. She proves to be a strong, beautiful, independent woman and the role of a burglar with seductive characteristics.
