Actors Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and the voice of Seth MacFarlane are certainly crowd favorites.
Everyone knows what it is like to have a stuffed animal friend when they were little and it is possible that few even imagined how their life would be if that same friend was with them 24/7 in their 20s and 30s. However, no one could have thought that their furry friend would take them to the same measures as this movie’s series of epic proportions.
After young John Bennett (Bretton Manley) made a lonely Christmas wish that his teddy bear would be his friend forever, the wish comes true, posing problems on his adult life. John’s girlfriend Lori Colins (Mila Kunis) gives John (Mark Wahlberg) an ultimatum to choose their life together or his loyal friend, Ted (voice: Seth MacFarlane).
The bear is forced to move out and live on his own but the two best friends still cannot stay away from each other, which is where the plot takes a turn and lessons are learned from all.
The sequence of events following that will have the audience laughing, shocked, disgusted and even tearful.
Lisa Kennedy, the top critic from the Denver Post writes, “It’s a goofy premise pursued with crass — as well as sentimental — relish.” The unpredictable series of events keeps viewers on the edge of their seats for nearly two hours.
The character Ted, viewers see on screen of the cute and cuddly teddy bear was a computer-generated image. This sweet looking face but “raunchy” actions and words make this movie a hit.
Ted grossed $54,415,205 on its opening weekend was in the top spot in the box office its first week. Since its debut, June 29, in less than a month, the movie has profited $183,549,005.
Rotten Tomatoes critics say that it gets 67 percent with its traditional “romance versus bromance” concept but with a unique twist. General users of rotten tomatoes give it an 82 percent.
The traditional MacFarlane sense of humor, newly put into a live action film gets an R rating for crude and sexual content, pervasive language and some drug use.
However, MacFarlane fans are used to this crude humor from his animated television series.
“Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane brings his boundary-pushing brand of humor to the big screen for the first time …” Universal Pictures company states on the Rotten Tomatoes website.
“Ted” is in its fourth week in the box office and is ranked fourth behind, “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Ice Age 3: Continental Drift 3D” and “The Amazing Spiderman.” Significantly behind “Ted” in the rankings are “Brave” and “Magic Mike.”
There is no reason to hold out on this movie, millions of viewers have loved “Ted” making it an easy one to empty the piggy banks for or even say, “Let’s see it again!”
