The No. 15 nationally ranked Colorado State University Pueblo ThunderWolves men’s soccer team has won the regular season Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) this fall for the first time since its 1999 season. The Pack now will face one of its biggest rivals in a matchup tonight (Wednesday, Nov. 13).
To end the 2024 regular season, the ThunderWolves — coached by Oliver Twelvetrees — finished with an overall record of 12-3-3 and went 7-1-2 in RMAC play. The Thunderwolves also went 6-3-1 at home and went 5-0-2 on the road. For the fourth time in the past four seasons, the ThunderWolves finished their regular season with a winning record. Heading into the RMAC Tournament, the ThunderWolves earned the No. 1 seed, which means they earned a first-round bye.
Their opponent at 6 p.m. today at CSU Pueblo’s Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium will be arch-rival University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The Mountain Lions finished the regular season with an overall record of 14-1-4 and were 6-1-2 in RMAC play. The Mountain Lions also went 6-1-2 at home and were 7-0-2 on the road. These two teams know each other well. The first matchup of the season between the ThunderWolves and the Mountain Lions was on Sept. 29 at CSU Pueblo. That game ended 2-1 in favor of the Mountain Lions. The second matchup was on Nov. 6 when the ThunderWolves traveled to Mountain Lion Stadium in Colorado Springs for their last away game of the 2024 season. That game ended in a 1-1 draw, which enabled the ThunderWolves to capture the RMAC regular season title.
The winner of tonight’s game will advance to the RMAC tournament final on Saturday (Nov. 16).
