SOCO Student Media general contest and sweepstakes rules
1. Periodically SOCO Student Media and its outlets (The Today Magazine, Revolution 89.5 KTSC-FM, Digital Sandbox, SOCO Design) will have sweepstakes or contests for a prize. You don’t have to donate or purchase any product or service to enter the contests or sweepstakes. All qualifying social media posts during the contest/sweepstakes period will receive one entry into the contest/sweepstakes, known as “post-entries”.
2. “Qualifying social media posts” are posts that correctly follow the specific ask and guidelines of the social media post request (i.e., if post asks for specific location, item, and/or social media tagging or mention).
3. Contests/sweepstakes have a defined time period for post-entries as laid out in each social media post, and all post=entries must be completed within the time period. The contest/sweepstakes period will be announced on social media and online at socostudentmedia.com.
4. Contest/sweepstakes winners will be randomly selected by a SOCO Student Media representative within 48 hours of the end of the contest/sweepstakes time-period, as indicated in the post, and notified over social media using the social media account of the contestants. If a potential winner cannot be reached after 2 days from the first notification attempt, such prize will be forfeited, and an alternate winner selected.
5. Prizes cannot be substituted for their fair market cash value. If the winner declines the prize, no other prize will be offered to the winner. The prize is non-transferrable. Any incidental expenses associated with the prize are the sole responsibility of each winner.
6. Prizes valued at more than $600 will be reported as taxable income, in accordance with IRS regulations. The winner is responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes, if applicable. The winner may be required to complete and sign an IRS W-9 form or equivalent.
7. Except where prohibited by law, entry, and acceptance of a prize constitutes permission to use, without compensation, each winner’s name, prize won, likeness, and social media account information on the SOCO Student Media website, SOCO Student Media social media accounts (The Today Magazine, Revolution 89.5 KTSC-FM, Digital Sandbox, SOCO Design), CSU Pueblo Media & Entertainment website and social media, on-air, and in other marketing materials.
8. The following individuals are not eligible for sweepstakes entry: current SOCO Student Media representative overseeing social media selection plus their immediate families.
9. Entries are limited to one entry per person. Multiple submissions by the same person through multiple social media accounts will invalidate entries. SOCO Student Media reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry that it discovers to be false, fraudulent, or in violation of these rules.
10. SOCO Student Media, the Department of Media & Entertainment, CSU Pueblo, and its contest sponsors are not responsible for error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials, or for technical, network, telephone, computer, hardware or software malfunctions or malfunctions of broadcast transmission or reception. SOCO Student Media, the Department of Media & Entertainment, CSU Pueblo, and its sponsors are not responsible for inaccurate transmission of, or failure to receive entry information for any reason. SOCO Student Media, the Department of Media & Entertainment, CSU Pueblo, and its sponsors are not responsible for any injury or damage to any computer related to or resulting from displaying entry materials or from entering any contest/sweepstakes.
11. SOCO Student Media, the Department of Media & Entertainment, and CSU Pueblo reserves the right to cancel any contest in its entirety, at its sole discretion, for any reason. All entries become the property of SOCO Student Media, the Department of Media & Entertainment, and CSU Pueblo and will not be acknowledged or returned.
12. By entering, entrants agree to release SOCO Student Media, the Department of Media & Entertainment, CSU Pueblo, its sponsors, divisions, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers and employees from any and all liability for any injury, loss or damage of any kind caused by participation or resulting from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize, and acknowledge that said parties have not made any warranty, representation or guarantee, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relative to the prize, including, but not limited to, its quality.
13. SOCO Student Media, the Department of Media & Entertainment, and CSU Pueblo assumes no responsibility for an illness that is contracted and/or and injury that is sustained while en route to, or attending an event, won as a prize.
14. Void where prohibited.
15. Odds of winning are based on the number of entries for sweepstakes.
16. Some sweepstakes or contests will have different rules than SOCO Student Media’s typical contests. In these cases, the special rules will override this policy and will be posted online.
