Colorado State University-Pueblo was saddened to learn about the untimely death of student and CSU-Pueblo wrestler, Wade Lehman.
Lehman was killed Nov. 24 in Colorado Springs when the car he was riding in veered off the side of the road and collided with a semi that was parked on the side of Interstate-25. Lehman was just 19 years old.
Lehman, who signed to wrestle at CSU-Pueblo over the summer, was planning to redshirt this season. He had not competed in the ThunderWolves’ first two wrestling events so far this season.
“Wade was a hard worker, was well liked by his teammates and everything you ask for out of a student-athlete,” CSU-Pueblo wrestling coach Dax Charles said. “He represented the hard work and dedication that is expected from our program, and he will be missed.”
Lehman was a state qualifier at Coronado High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., as well as a regional and conference champion in high school. He also finished fourth at the Rocky Mountain Nationals at 160 pounds in 2007. In addition to wrestling, Lehman also ran cross country and track at Coronado.
Lehman is survived by his parents, Lori and Kurt Lehman, and his 14-year-old brother, Brandon.
