Colorado State University-Pueblo’s Pack Club, the official booster club of CSU-Pueblo athletics, has announced the construction of a 10,000-square-foot athletic complex. Funds are currently being raised for this project.

In addition to this complex, renovations will also be made to the Pack House, which include expansions in the weight room, football locker room, training room and equipment room.

Friends of Football, a group of Pueblo community members and CSU-Pueblo alums, announced the $3 million project on Jan. 22. President and co-founder of Friends of Football, Dan DeRose, had also put forth a $2 million donation to lead fundraising efforts.

According to CSU-Pueblo’s head strength and conditioning coach, Allen Hedrick, the facility use will be primarily reserved for sports teams that currently train in the Pack House and not the Massari Arena.

Hedrick also provided a floor plan for the new workout facility, which is expected to be over twice the size of the Pack House’s 4,300-square-foot weight room.

Some features of the new facility will include 14 Olympic-style weight racks, a nutrition station, various dumbbell racks and a plyometric, speed and agility area.

Construction is intended to be underway by the summer in order for the facility to be open by the fall.
