Colorado State University Pueblo is getting ready to host the Colorado Southern Regional Science Olympiad Tournament and many middle and high schools across Colorado look forward to competing in it. Science Olympiad is a national tournament that takes place in all 50 states.
With the event in its 10th year at the university, the tournament acts as an opportunity for students to engage with the STEM program in a collegiate environment.
The Science Olympiad tournament at CSU Pueblo is directed by Assistant Provost of Student Success, Abby Davidson, whose office is located in the Pack Center in the university’s library.
“I can’t believe it’s been a decade that we’ve been doing this here on campus. I was introduced way back in 2015 and have been sticking with it for over a decade,” said Davidson.
The Science Olympiad tournament is taking place this Saturday, (March 8) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The events will take place all throughout campus.
STEM is an acronym that stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. There will be more than 100 student volunteers, and over 60 STEM faculty and STEM community professionals helping out at this year’s event.
The Science Olympiad tournament consists of 46 different STEM-based events, with 23 high school and 23 middle school events.
