The CSU-Pueblo Career Center will be hosting an internship and career fair Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Occhiato University Center Ballroom.
In the past, the event has merged employers with potential employees, and has given CSU-Pueblo students the opportunity to meet and discuss career paths face to face with company representatives.
The career fair will be of special interest to all CSU-Pueblo students, not just seniors, said Michelle B. Gjerde, the director of the Career Center.
“Alumni and seniors can talk to recruiters about full-time professional opportunities. Juniors and sophomores can use this opportunity to find out about internships and summer employment. First-year and sophomore students can explore future career opportunities in their majors,” Gjerde said.
There will be several employers with various opportunities for those students and alumni who are looking for a career in their field, or who are simply looking for a job, she said.
Past career fairs held at the OUC Ballroom have hosted approximately 50 employer booths, according to the Career Center’s website. The companies represented at the school’s past career fairs have been mixed, and have included real estate, insurance, state and government opportunities.
Such employers who have hosted booths at CSU-Pueblo career fairs in the past have included St. Mary Corwin and Parkview medical centers, Pueblo Workforce Center, Trane, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Colorado Springs Utilities and the City of Pueblo.
Military representatives have been present as well. The U.S. Army and Marine Corps hosted booths at the most recent career fair, in March.
Gjerde encourages all students to attend this event, regardless if they are close to graduation or not, she said. The career fair can be a great place for freshman and sophomores to get their feet in the door, she said.
Professional dress attire is required when attending this event, but no pre-registration is required.
