The CSU-Pueblo women’s soccer team settled for a 0-0 tie against Colorado Christian University Friday, Oct. 21.
The Pack had a dominating performance against the Cougars but unable to capitalize on their opportunities.
They were led offensively by sophomore midfielder Alicia Irwin who generated seven shots at goal on her own. Unfortunately, Cougar keeper Caitlyn Moss had one of her best games of the season turning away all 15 shots she faced.
The ThunderWolves continued to press the Cougars for the duration of the game, but the Cougar’s defense was stout and kept them out of the net. The best chance for the Pack came late in the game when junior Hannah Paulson placed a well-weighted pass to Melissa Christensen, but it was turned away by another terrific save by Moss.
The game went to overtime and the Cougars were threatening early when they had a free kick at the top of the box. The kick was taken poorly and sailed wide. Chances were few and far between for the rest of overtime and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
The Pack finished out the weekend on the road when they traveled to play Colorado Mesa for the final road game of the season.
