After a heartbreaking loss the night before, CSU-Pueblo’s women’s basketball team pulled out a win against Adams State College 55-47, Feb. 11.
From start to finish, the game seemed to be in the ThunderWolves’ favor. However, after coming out firing and scoring 11 unanswered points, CSU-Pueblo ran out of steam. The Grizzlies were slow to respond, they were able to rally back to lessen the Pack’s lead. Adams State wasn’t able to overcome poor shooting or unnecessary fouls however, giving the ThunderWolves 31 free throw shots.
“We started off good and unfortunately let them come back,” junior Laurel Kearsley said. “That‘s bad. But we all came together and we finished the night with a win.”
CSU-Pueblo led in scoring because of Kearsley and senior Kendall Babler. Kearsley had a career night, scoring 22 points and pulling down 13 rebounds on the way to her fifth double-double. Babler scored 11 points, with most coming from free throws.
The ThunderWolves are now 18-4 overall and 15-3 in the RMAC. Next up for the Pack is Nebraska-Kearney Feb. 17.
