Colorado State University-Pueblo now offers a bachelor’s degree in construction management through online courses. The courses in this program are offered in eight week modules and is $350 per credit hour.
According to the program’s website, CSU-Pueblo Online, “Construction Management combines the art and science of building technology with essential principles of business, management, computer technology and leadership. Construction Management involves the planning, scheduling, evaluation, and controlling of construction resources and activities, with optimization of project cost, schedule, quality and owner’s satisfaction.”
Program director Michael Mincic said students of the program may face strong prospects for jobs in the future.
“The construction industry ranks near the top of workforces facing significant retirements in the coming years along with continued expansion in the industry,” he said.
Other programs might be added later but with the aging workforce there is also a lack of degrees to show experience in the young construction management workforce.
Megan Rogers, an enrollment counselor at CSU-Pueblo Online, said that a lot of students coming into the program have some form of project management or construction management but have a lack of showing their experiences.
“Some of the students are completing the degree out of the necessity and others for a more personal and developmental option to their experience,” Rogers added.
Some of the classes that are included in this program are intro to construction management, construction materials and methods, construction management, building cost estimating, construction safety and statics and structures.
According to Rogers, CSU-Pueblo online is an extension of CSU-Pueblo Global. CSU-Pueblo is partnering with CSU-Global to “essentially adapt their online to a more streamlined program.”
