After defeating the Colorado Christian Friday night, the T-Wolves lost the game 2-3 against the Regis Rangers, currently one of the top squads in the RMAC.
“We competed well, but we should have won. We didn’t do enough to win.” said Head Coach Chris Jonson.
In the beginning of the first set, the Regis Rangers totally dominated the T-Wolves. They took the lead with a score of 6-0. Too many balls of the T-Wolves went out of the court, but the team tried hard to get back in the game. They brought the score up to 8-10, but the Rangers did not give up their leadership, until the T-Wolves caught up with a tie of 17-17. Both team played well and the score stayed close, and the T-Wolves were back in the game. Finally the T-Wolves won the first set 25-23.
The match stayed on a very high level in the second set. Both teams fought hard for the points, and neither team gave the other the opportunity to take the leadership in the beginning. After a tie of 4-4, the Rangers got on a run to 8-4, and finally brought the score up to 15-11. The T-Wolves tried hard to come back in the game, and with a score of 15-17 it seemed they would make it. In the end, the T-Wolves lost the second set 20-25.
The T-Wolves showed strengthens in the third set, and took the leadership right in the beginning to a score of 9-4. It was hard for the Rangers to catch up, but they brought it to a tie of 14-14. From then on, the teams stayed close, but at the T-Wolves won this set 25-22.
The Rangers came back in the fourth set, and dominated the beginning of the set. The T-Wolves had many inaccuracies, giving the opposing team a run until the score was 8-4. The T-Wolves caught up, but always stayed one step behind. The Rangers won the fourth set 25-19.
None of the teams wanted to lose the fifth and last set and stayed very close. After the TunderWolves took the leadership and brought the score to 7-4, the Rangers caught up to tie 7-7. The T-Wolves worked the ball hard, but it in the end it was not enough. The Rangers won the fifth set 15-13.
Alea Wildman, sophomore, Denver; and Megan Koop, freshman, Littleton, Colo. achieved both 11 kills, followed by Randee Hayes, freshman, Littleton, Colo. with eight kills.
