It is “Red Hot” Homecoming week at CSU-Pueblo, and the ThunderWolves have a chance to show off their school pride.
The volleyball team will be going against New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m., at the Massari Arena. After the game is over there will be a pep rally and bonfire at the dirt parking lot, located between the Student Recreation Field and the water towers, according to a flier. The first 150 students to arrive will receive a free T-shirt.
Students can then participate in a Unity Howl, at 9 p.m., before the Powder Puff Game, also located at the Student Recreation Field, at 9:30 p.m. There students can take part in or watch the game.
Those who are interested in playing can register a team of seven by sending an email to [email protected].
The next day on Saturday, Sept. 24 brings in the big day. The volleyball team will jump start the day’s festivities with a game against Western New Mexico University from Silver City, N.M., at 2 p.m., also in the Massari Arena.
Following the game, there will be a student tailgate party, at 4 p.m. Free food will be provided. The tailgate party will be at the Residence Hall Oval and will last until 5:25 p.m. At that time the ThunderWolf stampede will begin. Students participating can march to the Neta and Eddie DeRose Thunderbowl Stadium to watch the homecoming football game.
Our ThunderWolves, ranked 14th in the nation, will face off against Fort Lewis from Durango, Colo., at 6 p.m. Students can pick up a free ticket to the game at the bookstore. Staff and faculty can get their tickets for $5. Anyone who attends is asked to wear a red T-shirt because it is going to be a “red out,” according to the flier.
The Homecoming Dance and Casino Night will take place after the gam. The dance will be at the Student Recreation Center. Student IDs are required for entry. There the homecoming king and queen will also be announced.
