CSU-Pueblo’s third annual Spirituality Fair was held Feb. 19 in the Occhiato University Center. The event was open to anybody interested in learning more about different types of religious groups, beliefs and practices.
At the conference, spiritual leaders from across the country gathered in the OUC from to answer questions from students or faculty in order to share their perspectives on differing beliefs and practices.
There were also live performances by musicians and spiritual performers, each with their own unique style.
“This is the third Spirituality Fair I have attended CSU-Pueblo, and it just seems to be as exciting as always. The fair brings different religious groups together, where they provide this huge example of peace and tolerance for everyone,” said M. Talha Qureshi, a senior mass communications major and international student from Pakistan.
“Student get a chance to learn about different religions and faiths associated with them. Local churches, Jewish temples, Mosques and other religious campus organizations also participate in this fair,” he said.
There is a wide variety of clubs and organizations offered on campus to those who are interested in expanding their knowledge of practices concerning a certain religion or spiritual belief. Some of these clubs include the Catholic Students’ Union, Christian Challenge, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, among many others.
“Started by Ms. LaNeeca Williams, this fair truly represents the motto of our college that no culture, race, religion, orientation or ethnicity makes us better than others. We are all deserving of love, respect and acceptance, and by following this main motto we can make this world a better place to live,” Qureshi said.
Williams was the director of the Diversity Resources Center when she started the event.
The groups and organizations offered on campus are offered to help bring students together to create a network of friendships, and to expand awareness of different cultures and what their beliefs represent.
