The men of the Colorado State University Pueblo baseball team were back in action Sunday, Oct. 16 for the second of their three fall games with opposing schools. This time the opponent was the Plainsmen of Northeastern Junior College and on the day saw a double header of two eight inning games. Results saw a split on the day with the Pack taking game one 7-0 and the Plainsmen taking game two 8-7.
Highlights of the games included a combined shutout by the pitching staff in game one and was led by the efforts of Zach Pratt and Nick Perry. Offensive efforts were led by Reggie Williams who collected two RBI’s in the win. Game two saw a strong late comeback by the Plainsmen who halted the Pack multiple times in key moments. Many newcomers of the team saw action in game two and was heavily led by a freshman based defense.
Senior outfielder Noah Hennings commented on the day saying, “We had a good showing for the boys in game one and everyone executed in all facets of the game. We pitched well and scored runs continuously to build our lead. Unfortunately game two didn’t end how we wanted, but we’re still learning and preparing for another successful spring. We’re moving in the right direction and just need to fix the little things.”
The third and final game for the Pack will happen on Sunday, Oct. 23 when they take on New Mexico Military Institute. First pitch is slated for a 12 P.M. start and is open to the public for viewing.
