On the first and second of this month, Colorado State University-Pueblo had its second annual winter wonderland to kick off the upcoming holidays. The event began at 6 p.m. and lasted till 8 p.m. The prominent focus of the event was on the Christmas holiday.

Some of the characters present were the Grinch, Santa Claus, elves and a couple of reindeer. There were several activities as well. Activities varied from making s’mores to taking pictures with Santa Claus and the Grinch. One of the activities more favored by adults was ornament decorating. The ornaments ranged from reindeer, trees, mistletoe, snowmen and snowflakes.

An activity that was favored mainly by children and teens was cookie decorating. The children had two options on what cookie they wanted to decorate; an ornament or a tree.

Besides the activities set up by the student union, there was also REV 89, the radio station on campus, playing some of the greatest Christmas music ever created. Along with playing music at the event, the radio station also interviewed Santa, the Grinch, and the station crew creating characters between songs to make the time more enjoyable. The band also performed some Christmas classics in between breaks on the radio.

Off to the side of the main events during Winter Wonderland, located on the patio, there was an area where kids and families could go sledding. Granted, it was just a makeshift little hill for sledding with the bit of snow we got the day before and after the first of December; everyone who participated throughout the night had told the student union and the radio station that they had a blast. Many also said that they couldn’t wait for next year’s Winter Wonderland.
