Name/department/educational background: Nick McRee/Athletic Training major/CSU-Pueblo freshman

What has been your greatest success in writing? (Personal writing, collaborative writing, completing a project or book, etc.) Creativity. I love being creative with my writing and prefer it more than being straightforward and making points clearly and sassily. Being creative makes me think and elaborate more and allows the reader to think as well and provides some entertainment.

What do you struggle with in writing and how do you tackle that challenge? Straight-to-the-point essays. I hate these type of essays because you just can’t be creative with them and it makes it even harder to get your whole point across. Makes things very difficult.

What’s your favorite book of all time? Author? My favorite book or collection of books would have to be the “Maus” collections. The “Maus” series was written and drawn by Art Spiegelman and is greatly portrayed his father’s struggles through the concentration camps in WWII, but done in a new style. Instead of it being a written novel, it was a graphic novel.

What are you currently reading? Author? George Orwell’s “1984.”

What’s your favorite guilty reading pleasure, an easy, “beach” read? I would have to say going back many times to read “Dr. Franklin’s Island” by Ann Halam. It is an easy read but it always draws me in deeper and deeper every time I read it. I’ve read it about eight times and still like it.

Do you have a favorite word or quotation and who is the author? “Why live life by the years, instead of by how well those years were?” –Gabriel Iglesias (comedian)
