The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has announced that CSU-Pueblo’s men’s and women’s number-one singles players, Ricardo Oaxaca and Jamie Raun, and the women’s number-two, Julie Wainwright, have been named to the RMAC preseason all-conference tennis teams.
Oaxaca, a sophomore from Puebla, Mexico, was selected as the RMAC freshman of the year in 2006-07 after posting a 6-5 mark as the Pack’s number-one singles player.
Raun was part of one of the top number-one doubles combo in the conference last season (alongside Ashley Erickson), earning second team honors. In three matches thus far this season, Raun is 2-1.
Wainwright, the Pack’s number-two singles player, earned second-team all-conference honors in 2006-07 after posting a 6-7 mark. This season, Wainwright is 2-1.
Despite the individual honors, the ThunderWolves as a team were selected to finish sixth out of seven teams in both the men’s and women’s divisions this upcoming season.
The ThunderWolves’ season will kick off this weekend when both the men’s and women’s teams will take part in a tournament in Phoenix, starting on Feb. 14.
