ThunderWolves athletics wrap-up

Here’s a summary of last week’s CSU-Pueblo athletic activities, as well as a reminder of events coming up this week.

Football @Nebraska-Kearny

The ThunderWolves football team took to the road this week, traveling to UNK to take on the fourth ranked Lopers. The ThunderWolves pulled off the upset beating the Lopers for the first time sense the program’s rebirth (1-3). The Pack defense forced five turnovers and handed the first loss to the Lopers this year. The ThunderWolves improve their record 7-0 (5-0). The team returns home this coming Saturday, Oct. 22, to face Colorado Mesa University. Kick-off starts at 6 p.m.

Men’s Soccer @UCCS, v. Regis and v. Colorado Mesa

The Pack men’s soccer team struggled this week going 0-3, including two overtime losses this weekend. They lost to Regis 1-0 in double overtime Friday, Oct. 14, and lost 1-0 to Colorado Mesa Sunday, Oct. 16. Before the back-to-back overtime losses, they traveled to Colorado Spring this past Wednesday, Oct. 12. The ThunderWolves got off to a slow start, giving up two early goals and never finding a way back losing 3-0. They look to bounce back from a 0-3 record this week when they travel to the first-ranked Fort Lewis Sunday, Oct. 23.

Women’s Soccer @UCCS, v. Metro State and v. Regis

The Pack women’s soccer team also traveled to Colorado Spring this past Wednesday, Oct. 12, to face UCCS, only they got a better result than the men. The ThunderWolves got a solid win 2-1, getting a goal from Alicia Irwin and Alexis DeLaCruz, and only gave up a late goal to the Mountain Lions. The Pack women also had two home games this past weekend but they did not have as much success as they did in Colorado Springs. They lost a heartbreaker to Metro State Friday, Oct. 14. The score was 2-1 in overtime. The also came up short against Regis Sunday, Oct. 16, falling 2-0. They play two games this coming week. They play at home against Colorado Christian Friday, Oct. 21, and are on the road to Colorado Mesa Sunday, Oct. 23.

Women’s Volleyball @UCCS, Metro State and Regis

The women’s volleyball team had a week on the road and it wasn’t going to be easy either, facing three RMAC foes. The team came up short, and only won one game in all the matches, falling to UCCS and Regis 0-3. The lone game the ThunderWolves won was against Metro State. They look to bounce back this week with a favorable home schedule, with matches against Colorado Mesa Friday, Oct. 21, and Fort Lewis Saturday, Oct. 22.
