Pack linebacker honored by RMAC

The Pack’s defense helped to key a 21-14 win over New Mexico Highlands Saturday, and it was linebacker Jerry McWilliams who helped to lead that charge. After a 10-tackle effort, McWilliams was recognized as the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week, the RMAC announced Monday.

McWilliams led the ThunderWolves in many defensive categories Saturday, forcing two fumbles, and recording two sacks for a combined loss of 21 yards. He even caught an eight-yard pass on a fake field goal attempt.

McWilliams, a transfer from Glendale Community College in Arizona who prepped at Fountain-Fort Carson High School in Fountain, Colo., is currently leading the ThunderWolves in tackles with 42, forced fumbles with two, and is second on the team in tackles for loss (9.5) and sacks (4.5).

McWilliams becomes the third ThunderWolf to be recognized as an RMAC player of the week award and the first defensive player to enjoy the honor. After the Pack’s week one win over Oklahoma Panhandle State, Markus Turner was named the special teams player of the week, and Kyle Major earned the same honor the following week after CSU-Pueblo’s week two win over Fort Lewis.
