The CSU-Pueblo volleyball team concluded their season with a tough loss in three to the Western State Mountaineers Saturday night at Massari Arena, 25-18, 25-17, 27-25.
The ThunderWolves’ play displayed a lack of passion until nearly the end of the third game when desperation set in. The Pack battled but couldn’t gain the win. Senior Lindsay Black leading the Pack with a total of 8 kills couldn’t defend the hitting power of Western State Erin Osleson, a former County Hornet player, with a total of 13 kills and five blocks.
Coach Jonson said he is proud of Lindsay Black’s performance of one year of play. “She made the best in even difficult situations; did a great job and stuck with it as a leader.”
Jonson also credits freshman as key players. “They got thrown in the fire this year but they gained valuable experience and it shows.”
The Pack closed out their season 5-22 overall and 3-16 in the RMAC.
Although this marked the end of the season, Coach Jonson said it represented the beginning of a young team. “I am looking forward to working with the team this spring and building this program into something special.”
