The Majors Fair for undeclared students and freshmen took place on Wednesday, Sep. 29 in the Occhiato University Center at CSU-Pueblo.

Representatives from all 21 majors attended in hopes to help students decide what major is best for them.

“I think every student that attended the fair benefitted,” said Pam Chambers, the associate director of Student Academic Services.

The event is to give students the ability to talk directly to each department and to help determine what major is best for each student.

Angela Rose, an 18-year-old freshman with an undeclared major said, “I went to the fair because I still have not decided what to major in.”

Each department had advisors or representatives present to answer questions student’s had about each major.

“I enjoyed the fair because it helped me understand what each major is about and all my questions were answered right on the spot,” Rose said.

Chambers mentioned how the fair was a One-stop-shop for students of all acedemic interests.

This is only the second year the Student Academic Services has hosted this event. Attendance was down in comparison to last year’s event.

“We need student awareness to have more attendance. Next year I plan to promote the fair in the introduction courses heavily,” Chambers said.

Free food and drinks were offered to students and door prizes including an iPod Shuffle and CSU-Pueblo sweatshirts were given to attendees.

Chambers mentioned how freshmen, undeclared students and those who considered changing their major are the types of students that should be attending events like this.

“I really appreciate the departmental involvement and plan to make it a bigger event with better attendance next year,” Chambers said.
