    Spotlight on Reading/Writing: Colin Scott

The TODAY’s Spotlight on Reading/Writing features CSU-Pueblo faculty, staff and students sharing their reading and writing experiences. The column is co-sponsored by the English and Foreign Languages Department and the English Club. This week’s feature highlights music performance major Colin Scott.

cscott.jpgName, university position, educational background: Colin Scott, music performance major, high school diploma.

Favorite book of all time: “Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul” by Douglas Adams

Favorite guilty reading pleasure: “Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” the infamous five-book trilogy.

Favorite quote: “And quoth the Raven, ‘Nevermore'” – Edgar Allen Poe

Your greatest writing success and how you accomplished it: Writing a 12-page ‘short’ story, about Communist squirrels. I just had to sit down and put pen to paper, then clarify my thoughts. The clarification was the hardest part.

Your most challenging writing experience and how you tackled it: Putting together a paper on my outlandish thesis, “Daylight Savings is contributing to the downfall of the global economy, and giving rise to the second Bolshevik Revolution.” I pulled through by using multiple sources one would not immediately consider, like China’s Internal Ministry, and the U.S. Department of Transportation.

What are you currently reading? “Black House” by Stephen King, “Meditations” by Marcus Aurelius, and “The Regulators” by Stephen King.
