Colorado State University- Pueblo homecoming week is ramping up with a variety of different events taking place throughout the week.

The theme of homecoming is Year of the ThunderWolves. Alumni, current students and their families of Southern Colorado Junior College, Pueblo Junior College, Southern Colorado State College, the University of Southern Colorado and CSU-Pueblo are invited to take part in the festivities throughout the week.

The week kicked off today with a doughnuts and coffee break in the Library and Academic Resource Center lobby. As these events take place alumni, current students and their families are encouraged to participate and attend the events.

“All CSU-Pueblo students should get out and experience at least a few of the homecoming activities scheduled,” Sommer Street, assistant director of external affairs said. “It’s great for current student to meet alums, to meet and socialize, for networking.”

Various activities will be taking place throughout the week as well including events such as Give Day, Associated Students Government Bonfire, Forensics Tailgate and Debate, Alumni Association and Friends of Football Community Tailgate, Pack Football v. Adams State and Alumni/Family Brunch.

“Homecoming is an exciting time of year here at the CSU-Pueblo campus. It combines fall, football, and fun all in one glorious week packed full of events. Between the alumni events, howling house party, tailgates, after parties, and an exciting football game there won’t be a dull moment on campus,” Jackie Talbert, a senior economics major and leadership studies minor said.

CSU-Pueblo’s second annual day of give will occur Oct. 5. Give day is an event that is organized by the Foundation office of the university.

Over 22 organizations will be participating in the event this year. The Foundation Office set the goal to have 200 individuals donate to the 22 different causes within 24 hours.

The Howlin’ House Party Oct. 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. food, drinks, games and the pep rally will take place.

Following the house party, the Powderpuff football game will be held at 7 p.m. at the Student Recreation Field. To be apart of Powderpuff game, students and staff can register online through intramural sports. There is a small registration fee of $20 that will also allow participation in all Fall intramural sports.

On Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. one team and six individuals will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Later that day, Pack football will take on Adams State at 6 p.m. in the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.

“I’m excited for the energy on campus and the homecoming football game,” Shelbi Gillispie, a senior psychology major said.

Before the game from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friends of Football and the Alumni Association will sponsor a tailgate on the rooftop deck of the Leomiti Warrior Center.
