    Spotlight on Reading/Writing: Barbara Hadley

    The TODAY’s Spotlight on Reading/Writing features CSU-Pueblo faculty, staff and students sharing their reading and writing experiences. The column is co-sponsored by the English and Foreign Languages Department and the English Club. This week’s feature highlights Barbara Hadley of the Student Counseling Center.

    What has been your greatest success in writing? (Personal writing, collaborative writing, completing a project or book, etc.): Fred Stultz and I are collaboratively writing a beautiful book about how people discover their opportunities in meeting their dreams.
    What do you struggle with in writing and how do you tackle that challenge? Flow of my thoughts without becoming too wordy. Asking others to help simplify the paragraph.

    What’s your favorite book of all time? Author? Professional: “The New Peoplemaking” by Virginia Satir; Philosophical: “Black Elk Speaks” by John Neihardt; “No Ordinary Moments” by Dan Millman; Imaginative: “Cold Mountain” by Charles Frazier

    What are you currently reading? Author? “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” by Michael Pollan; Just finished: “Three Cups of Tea” by Greg Mortenson

    What’s your favorite guilty reading pleasure, an easy, “beach” read? Harlan Cobins mystery/detective books

    Do you have a favorite word or quotation and who is the author? “The easiest thing in the world is to be you. The most difficult thing to be is what other people want you to be. Don’t let them put you in that position.” -Leo Buscaglia
