Breakfast is also the most important meal of the day and has many health benefits, which includes weight loss and improved performance. Studies show that a healthy breakfast has improved kids studies in the classrooms.
CSU-Pueblo added Einstein’s Bros. Bagels as another food option for students. It is located in the basement of the OUC building in the Cantina. The addition was a surprise for returning students and has quickly become a popular spot to grab a bite to eat.
Einstein Bros. Bagels is a bagel and coffee chain in the U.S. The company started in March 1995 and by Aug. 17, 1997 Einstein Bros. Bagels opened up store number 500 which made it the nation’s largest ‘bagel’ company according to information from fundinguniverse.com.
Einstein Bros. came from the owners of Boston Market who wanted to make a breakfast spot. In 2000, Einstein Bros. Bagels went bankrupt and a company called New World Coffee bought them out for $190 million according to an article in accessmylibrary.com.
The new addition took over a big space of the Cantina and some of the older lunch spots but some students don’t seem to mind the reconstruction.
Domi Danallo, junior at CSU-Pueblo, said, “I don’t mind the reconstruction of the Cantina. It made it way nicer and I think Einstein’s is 10 times better than any other place that was there last year.”
Daveon Ackinsanya, senior at CSU-Pueblo, said, “This is probably the best thing to come to CSU-Pueblo since the football team.”
Einstein’s Bros. Bagels not only has original style bagels but they carry a wide variety of “Signature Bagels” which includes blueberry, Asiago cheese, onion, potato, cranberry and many other types. They also provide “Gourmet Topped Bagels” with toppings like Dutch apple, green chile, six cheese, challah, and spinach Florentine.
Einstein Bros. Bagels also has options for people who need to get in a quick snack. They also have bagel dogs, which is simply a hot dog inside of the same dough used to make the bagels.
The deli sandwiches and signature sandwiches is a popular option on the menu. If you are into the hot sandwiches, Einstein’s Bros. Bagels has bagel melts and Panini’s on the menu.
Smart choices on the menu include gourmet salads and low fat smoothies. Every item on the smart choice list is under 350 calories and 15 grams of fat.
A problem you may have when going to Einstein’s Bros. Bagels is the line of students that come into the Cantina in the morning. Now that more students are on campus, more people may start coming as the school year goes on.
The cantina is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. It is closed on the weekends.
