Pueblo Symphony opening with Broadway stars

The Pueblo Symphony will open it’s 2008-09 concert season with “Steppin’ Out: A Tribute to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rohers.” The opening concert is at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 5 and will be at Hoag Recital Hall.
The concert stars Broadway vocalist Sal Viviano and dancers and vocalists Joan Hess and Kirby Ward.

Viviano is a favorite of the Pueblo area audience according to June King, executive director of Pueblo Symphony. Viviano also sang at The Inaugural Concert for President Clinton.
Viviano has starred in numerous Broadway plays, and has also received a Helen Hayes Award nomination for best actor, for his title role in “Sunday in the Park with George,” King said.

Pueblo native, Joan Hess, just finished her fifth Broadway show “Mamma Mia.” She has also performed with many symphonies across the country.

Kirby Ward has worked in the arts in five continents. He has worked in film, television and stage for almost 30 years. He directed and choreographed “Dames at Sea,” “The Jazz Singer” and “Grease.”

He also trained Bette Midler and James Caan in song and dance technique for their film “For the Boys,” according to King.

Tickets are $35 and are available at the Pueblo Symphony Box Office. For more informational call 719-545-7967.

This is top-notch entertainment! We are indeed fortunate to have this opportunity without having to leave town. Thank you June King and the Pueblo Symphony Board and the Friends of the Pueblo Symphony and especially the sponsors who make this concert affordable.
