Students at Colorado State University-Pueblo hosted the Late Night at the Rec event on Feb. 26 in the Student Recreation Center. The head of the event was Sarah Lawson, from the Health Education and Prevention program. The event was created to provide weekend activities for students that include things other than drinking.
The event had a variety of games that included a bungee run, human Twister, knockerballs, dodgeball, Minute to Win It games, trivia, karaoke, coloring, crafts and dancing games on a Kinect.
Students that attended had the chance to win tickets that entered them into a raffle to win prizes. Prizes included a 24-inch smart TV, GoPro, Kindle Fire, Beats headphones and various CSU-Pueblo merchandise.
The purpose of Late Night at the Rec is to not only educate students on the harmful effects of binge drinking, but to also change the stigma that individuals can go out and not drink yet still have fun, according to Jonothan Stephenson. Stephenson is a senior business management major with an emphasis in business and marketing and co-president of S.O.U.L.
Tanna Duling, a sophomore business management major with an emphasis in marketing, said that “Late Night at the Rec is a really neat way to hang out with your friends in a safe environment.”
Duling also won a raffle for a GoPro.
